This morning I bid farewell to the Blazing Saddles at the start of their Coliseum to Colosseum challenge. They intend to ride from the Coliseum Theatre in Oldham to the Colosseum in Rome. A distance of 1450 miles in 12 days. The Blazing Saddles team comprises of serving and retired Firefighters and friends that have joined and supported over the years.
Blazing Saddles are a group of cyclists that raise money for charity by completing various cycle challenges. It started 10 years ago, when a small group of Firefighters from Oldham Fire Station decided to raise money for charity. The event was a success, raising substantial amounts of money for both charities, the riders completing 176 miles in a day visiting the Fire Stations of Greater Manchester. Blazing Saddles was born. They continue to try and complete bigger and more challenging events.
Blazing Saddles are raising money for 5 charities; Firefighters Charity, SANDS, Back Up (Spinal Injuries), Parkinsons UK and Arts Emergency.
