Calls made to end ‘punitive’ Royal Oldham parking system

Calls have been made for a reform in the “punitive” parking enforcement system at Royal Oldham Hospital to move to a fairer model, ending the “postcode lottery” of hospital parking.

Dr Zahid Chauhan OBE, a local councillor of the Alexandra ward and former Mayor of Oldham, is calling on the government to make changes to the car parking system at Oldham’s main hospital.

Staggering statistics released earlier this year through a Freedom of Information request showed Royal Oldham issued 4,040 parking fines and 2,133 warning notices in 2024.
