Over recent weeks, I have been contacted by many residents who are struggling to book a driving test through the DVLA system.
I have heard countless stories of frustration, while learners are unable to secure dates directly, private agencies are somehow able to access the same slots and resell them at hugely inflated prices. It is a growing, unfair practice that puts unnecessary financial pressure on families and creates inequality in access to driving tests.
Today, I have written to the Minister for the Future of Roads @LilianGreenwood to urgently raise these concerns.
Learning to drive is essential for work, education and daily life. A fair and accessible driving test system must be restored.
