Every day, thousands of people across our communities face the harsh reality of having no place to call home. But homelessness isn’t just about sleeping on the streets, it includes families in temporary accommodation, young people sofa surfing and individuals one unexpected event away from losing their home.
The truth is, homelessness can happen to any of us. We are all closer to it than we might think.
As a GP, I’ve seen how losing a home affects every part of a person’s life, their health, confidence and hope. That’s why I started Homeless Friendly, to build understanding, challenge stigma and make services inclusive for everyone.
On World Homeless Day, let’s reflect on what home really means – safety, dignity and belonging – and how we can make our communities more homeless friendly for all.
Here are some photos showing the important work our team and partners do every day to make a difference. Thank you to everyone who continues to support, volunteer and stand with us
