Statement in response to the terrorist attack at the Manchester Arena (May 22, 2017)

In response to the terrorist attack at the Manchester Arena, 22nd May, Dr Zahid Chauhan said:

“I send my sincere condolences to all those affected by the vile crime perpetrated at the Manchester Arena.

The murder of any human being is deplorable but the fact that this was a targeted attack on children is a new low.

In the immediate aftermath of this barbarous act, we have seen once again the skills, compassion and bravery of our emergency services. I would like to pay tribute to my health colleagues and all emergency services who worked so tirelessly.

Greater Manchester is a richly diverse area but one which stands together proud, resilient and strong. Ours’ is a community of good and it will not be defeated by evil.”
